A case of murder has been filed against Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf: founder Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi and party leaders in connection with the death of paramilitary soldiers during a protest last month.

A first information report (FIR) was lodged at Islamabad’s Ramna police station on a complaint by a Rangers official, who alleged that the entire incident was planned in Adiala Jail Rawalpindi, where Khan was lodged, the newspaper reported on Friday The Express Tribune. .

The former prime minister and his wife were named as prime suspects and PTI leaders including Ali Amin Gandapur, Umar Ayub, Waqas Akram, Salman Akram Raja, Murad Saeed, Zulfi Bukhari, Rauf Hassan, Hammad Azhar and others were accused. to conspire to carry out the plan, the report said.

The FIR alleged that the killing of the Rangers personnel took place at the behest and behest of Khan with the involvement of the PTI senior leadership. It said the plan was hatched in various meetings between PTI leaders and certain inmates at the jail and its aim was to target the security forces.

The FIR further identified several witnesses to the plot, including prisoners, laborers and secret police personnel in the prison.

The FIR further stated that Bushra Bibi and other party leaders incited the public through a video message urging them to rise against the army and the government. The PTI leadership is accused of inciting rebellion and violence through their calls for public disturbances.

According to political experts, the new case could add to the worries of Khan, who is already facing nearly 200 cases. The vast majority of these were filed after his government fell in April 2022 following a no-confidence vote.
