MCAS Miramar to welcome home pilots who attacked Houthi weapons depots in Yemen – San Diego Union-Tribune

A squadron of fighter pilots that attacked Houthi weapons depots in Yemen will return to Marine Corps Air Station Miramar on Saturday after a five-month deployment to the Middle East and Indo-Pacific aboard the San Diego-based aircraft carrier USS Abraham Lincoln .

Attacks by Marine Fighter Attack Squadron 314—the Black Knights—represent the first combat use of the F-35C Lightning II aircraft, which are considered one of the most stealthy military aircraft in the world.

The Black Knights targeted warehouses that “housed conventional weapons, including anti-ship missiles and one-way attack drones, used by the Iran-backed Houthis to target US military and civilian vessels navigating international waters in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden.” MCAS Miramar said in a statement.

The Lincoln Carrier Strike Group also helped protect Israel from possible attacks by Iran and its collaborators. The ship is now on its way back to San Diego.
