At approximately 7:43 p.m., on December 5th, the El Dorado Fire Department was dispatched to the 500 block of N Alleghany for a report of a house fire. Upon arrival at the scene, firefighters observed a single story home with heavy fire activity in the front of the home.

While crews worked to extinguish the fire, search and rescue operations began. Inside the home, two people were found already dead. A married couple, a man and a woman, named Dennis, (76) and Lorene, “Joyce” (70), Gleason, were removed from their home. Due to the ongoing investigation into the death and fire, names could not be released to the media until this week.

Due to the extensive fire damage, the cause could not be determined, but it was ruled unintentional.

“Our condolences go out to the families who have suffered a loss in the fire,” Deputy Fire Chief Tony Yaghijan said.

Firefighters from both El Dorado fire stations, volunteer and student firefighters responded to the fire along with Butler EMS and the El Dorado Police Department.
